Why We Invested
Big data in biology is finally taking off. Over the last decade, data generated via next-generation sequencing and other high-throughput technologies has increased nearly a thousand-fold, and this trend shows no sign of slowing. But, today, only a small fraction of life sciences companies are equipped with the necessary resources and expertise to take full advantage of it. Soon, all therapeutic discovery and development programs will need best-in-class data analysis capabilities at their core to unlock value from the research taking place in both the dry and wet lab. Watershed has built the biocomputing stack for this future, offering the first fully verticalized platform designed from the ground up to power the big data needs of life sciences researchers.
